Oracle 8.1.5 is not certified on Windows ME and direct installation does not work. But there is a workaround, you need to make a change in the WIN.INI file. In the WIN.INI file, under the Compatible95 section add the following line
JRE=0x00080000
Reboot the system and try the installation. It will work.

Not me -- but I did notice that there is very little certified on Windows ME.
Last night, I did a message from an oracle support person in an oracle forum that said Personal Oracle 8.0.6 was certified on windows ME. I haven't confirmed this...
Oracle still is adament that even 8.1.7 EE/Standard/Personal is not certified.
So, this might be taking a chance -- oracle is generally good about certification, which makes me wonder why they are taking so long in certification -- are they hitting a road block? Or is market share of ME not worth the bug corrections???
It might be better to try the PO 8.0.6 if that can be confirmed as certified -- otherwise I would go for the latest version of PO.
Good luck,
