We've had a lot of LOB questions lately. Ali's absolutely correct. Ya gotta use the dbms.lob package to peek inside the LOB (CLOB or BLOB). You can read up on it in Oracle 9i the Complete Reference.

how to use minus with clob field????
select clobfield from table where rownum<x
minus
select clobfield from table where rownum<y
error appears ,but if the field is not clob
the sql is right!!!
