Firstly, I am not an Oracle expert, so pls excuse if this question is very obvious or basic.
We are migrating from Oracle 8.1.7.4 to 9.2.0.3 this weekend. Our application has 2 databases - an OLTP database and an MIS database, and uses AQ to propagate a set of tables between the two.
This afternoon, our DBA reported that in the new (9.2.0.3) environment, while AQ messages are getting propagated into the MIS database, they are not getting dequeued from the queue. He got in touch with Oracle tech support, and has been debugging this with them for a few hours. Just a little while ago, he called up to say that the problem had been solved by setting AQ_TM_PROCESSES to 1, but he is not sure why, because it was set to 0 in the old (8.1.7.4) database and worked fine.
Since then, I have been trawling the web to find out. Any help gratefully received - I do not want to proceed with the migration unless I know for sure what happened and how it was set right.
Another (perhaps unrelated) symptom - propagation from OLTP to MIS database was taking a long time (~15 sec). DBA is checking the performance now.
Thanks in advance
