what kind of datatype is in tpms_lmo1?  Also, can you give an example of the data in that field?

by: MikeOM_DBAPosted on 2004-09-24 at 11:27:27ID: 12146164

Try comparing dates to dates:

to_date('01'||substr(tpms_lmo1,1,3)||substr(tpms_lmo1,4,2)'DDMONYY') <=
TO_DATE('10/31/2003','DD/MM/YYYY');

I am assuming substr(tpms_lmo1,1,3) is the NAME of the month?

Ooops, need comma at: ,4,2),'DDMONYY').

dnarramore,

it's a character field.
an example would be AUG04.

Thanks.

where to_date('01-'||substr(tpms_lmo1,1,3)||'-' || substr(tpms_lmo1,4,2))<=  '31-OCT-2003'

should work.

delete from tact where tact_ABC='PT' and tact_tnum in (select SBC_tnum from NMOP where
to_date( tpms_lmo1, 'MONRR') <= to_date('OCT-2003','MON-YYYY')

by: pek99Posted on 2004-09-24 at 16:13:02ID: 12148303

delete from tact where tact_ABC='PT' and tact_tnum in (
     select SBC_tnum from NMOP where
     to_date(tpms_lmo1,'MONYY') <= TO_DATE('10/2003','MM/YYYY')
);

Note: instead of giving some constant day on both sides, you can simply choose between < and <= in comparison :-)

       AND tact_tnum in (select SBC_tnum
                           from NMOP
                          where to_date('01'||substr(tpms_lmo1,1,3)||substr(tpms_lmo1,4,2),'DDMONYY')<=TO_DATE('10/31/2003','MM/DD/YYYY'));
