The Solution Rating System

  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. need help with a strored procedure setup

I want to know if I can have a sql script which will prompt for the values and then pass them to a stored procedure. Let's leave the loop out for now. I need to user to start sqlplus and run a script from a windows client. the sql script needs to prompt for values (3 values) these needs to be passed to the procedure which will do the select, insert and the delete afterwards. because the values that are entered need to be validated and if the record is found, the record should be inserted in a save table and once inserted, it should be deleted from the original table. if I can get something like this working for now, I will see what else can be added to it.

1. prompts for a variable (which is the primary key of a table(this primary key consists of 3 columns)
2. validate this values with the original table
3. when valid does an insert of the record into a table that is a copy of the original table
4. commit
5. then perfoms a delete from the original table
6. then does a commit after the delete

Can I achieve this with a sql script and a prcedure? if yes how?
