The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Finding first and last row of  vehicle position every night(7Pm to 6Am)  in a given month

Hi,
  I am practically new to the analytical function in Oracle and need help in using them.
I have a  table (Oracle database) "mobilehist" which has
 Columns :
       KeyId                      number      ( PrimaryKey)
       VehicleName           varchar2      
       m_DateTime       varcar2  ( timestamp For Eg value "20051015143015"  means 2005 oct15 02:30:15 PM  )
     
This is a GPS application.  The vehicle locations of around 150 vehicles keeps on entering  in the  "MobileHist" table in every  5 minute intervals . When a vehicle is switched off,  no data is entered.

    How to find
        for a vehicle ,  in a given period of time
         (  say , for  "vehicle1"  from aug1,2005 to sep1,2005)
             If the vehicle has travelled between  7PM in the evening and  6AM  in the next morning,
         return the first row after 7Pm and  lastrow before 6AM.
       Please note that this has to be returned in a set of two rows, not just two keyids .
     The idea is to find , if  the driver has used the vehicle after the office hours, when he started the vehicle and when he stopped the vehicle.
        (  Note: substr(m_datetime,1,8) gives you date(yyyymmdd), if you need it)
