Key,Value pair in PL/SQL

Dear Experts,

Facing a small hick up while building a PL/SQL procedure. I want to know is there a way to have key,value pair type in PL/SQL. I remember using key,value pair type of arrays in VB which is very handy. I got to use such type in PL/SQL which is of 2 dimensional. I want to populate this type with the values from database and use them later in the same procedure.

Exatct scenario is as below:

A query will return values set as below,

COL1 COL2
-------------
KEY1 VAL1
KEY2 VAL2
KEY3 VAL3

I want to populate these in a key,value pair type so that i should be able to retrieve COL2 value by passing COL2 key during further processing in my procedure of huge data count. This is to avoid unnecessary database transaction.

Please help me in achieving this or let me know if there is a other better approach.
