Upgrade of Oracle Client from 8 to 9

Hello,
i have running on the server(Win2000 Server SP4) the Oracle DB v8 SP1.
On the client machine WinXPSP2 are running two applications that:
- application A connects to the Oracle DB on the server using the Oracle client
- application B connects to the Oracle DB on the server using the ODBC Driver (Microsoft ODBC for Oracle)
On the client pc is running the MDAC v2.8 SP1 and Microsoft ODBC for Oracle v2.575.1117.00
Before on the client it was installed the Oracle client v8. I have uninstalled the v8 client and installed the Oracle client v9.
The application A is working but the with application B i can not connect with the message ODBC connection error
I have tryed using the MS Access to create a link to the database using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle but i get the error message:

"ODBC--call failed.
[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name (#12154)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed IM006 0 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]
Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed (#0)"
