how do i SUM results of a subquery?

trying something like:

select sum(myCount) from
(
select max(runcount) from myTable
group by myGroup) myCount

get Error: ORA-00904: "RUNCOUNT": invalid identifier

This should do it:

select sum(myCount) from
(
select max(runcount) mycount from myTable
group by myGroup);

thanks, works fine, but i realize i've asked the wrong question

i'm actually trying to get 2 numbers on the same query, a count and a sum like:

select count(runcount), ( select sum(max(runcount)) from (
select max(runcount) mycount from myTable
group by myGroup))
from myTable;

i get Error: ORA-00937: not a single-group group function

increased points to 100

assuming you want a count of all values, and the sum of all the max runcounts then:

select sum(myCount), sum(myMax)  from
  (select count(runcount) myCount, max(runcount) myMax from myTable
   group by myGroup);
