The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Understanding Datafiles

I am doing an import into 8.1.7 database into a tablespace that has 7 datafiles defined spread across two disks,  with the extent clause set 128 KB, the size clause set at 1024 MB, autoextend off and max extents at more than 2 million.
About 3/4 way through, the import fails, Oracle returns error message cannot create initial extent for table blah blah. My question is, how does Oracle write to the datafiles, because the six datafiles are labelled 01.dbf through 06 dbf. Does Oracle write to 01.dbf first, then when 01 is full, writes to 02 and so on because when I look at the datafiles in Enterprise manager, I see that only 05.dbf and 03.dbf are full, the rest of the datafiles still have room for growth. What I am trying to determine is which disk has become full since I don thave access to the server.
