characters from string

I am trying to handle string to get first 6 character and last 6 charcters of the string.
The string are entered in different formats

for example

100000 => I need to get lst field as 100000 and 2nd field is NULL
100001 200000 => I need to get 100001 int to 1st field and 200000 into 2nd field
111111222222 => I need to get 111111 into first field and 222222 into 2nd field

All this data is in TABLE1 and COL1. I need to migrate this data into TABLE2 and COL1 , COL2

I am trying to write a cursor that will select from TABLE1 and within procedure I am trying to insert into TABLE2.
what should be the select statement of the cursor?
