The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Upgrade Oracle or Upgrade Hardware

Hi Experts
I have a client that is using an older application thats currently running on an OLD HP Desktop.
The Desktop System is running Windows 2000 Server 5.00.2195 Sp4 (256 megs of Ram)
The application is accessing-using an Oracle 8.0.5 database.
There are 5 employees that connect to this database and the slowness is now becoming a problem.
The seemingly obvious approach to solve the slowness problem would be to clone the HP Hard Drive and replace the system with a newer one.

My Questions
Is there a way that I can check to see if upgrading the hardware will make a speed difference before committing to purchasing new hardware?

Could the slowness be related to the older Oracle 8.0.5 Database?
