impdp - data pump import can be used to import files those are exported by expdp(data pump export).
Datapump (expdp, imdp) are new mechanisams introduced in oracle 10g, which gives better performance over conventional export/import (exp, imp).
In 10g , its you choice which one to use. if you use conventional export for exporting data, you must conventional import imp.
Import is the older utility that Oracle has offered for at least the past 15 years. Impdp is the newer (and faster) utitlity that Oracle introduced with the Oracle10 database, about 2005. These both work only with "dump" files that have been produced by the Oracle export utillities: export or expdp. The traditional import utilitiy can only process files that were produced with the traditional export utility. Similarly, the newer impdb can only process files that were produced with the newer (Oracle10 or higher only) expdp utilitiy. Also, the version of import or impdp must be equal to or higher than the version of export or expdp that was used to create the "dump" file(s).
These both run as operating system utilities, usually directly on the database server. They are usually used to move an Oracle database (or a single schema, or a single table) from one Oracle database to another.

If you don't know the dump user name, you can use SYSTEM or SYS.
