Oracle 9i - Can the server running Oracle be virtuzlied?

Hi,

I'm hearing different answers from system administrators on whether or not you can run Oracle 9i within a vm.  Some admins say you can do it, and others say you can't.

Does anyone know the real answer to this question?  We will be upgrading to 10 in the future, however I wanted to see if we can push forward in converting over two Oracle servers running under Windows 2003.

Thanks!

Not unless the admins that stated this were referring to large databases and that is what needed to be stored on some type of SAN or NAS device.

I don't understand what you were commenting on.  My post or sdstubers post?

I'm not saying VMs won't work.  I've used VMWare, Virtual PC/Server and am using Hyper-V right now for test and development.

They work great.  I would just NEVER use them in production because of the support issue.
