Oracle 11g windows server 2008

Hi,

I am trying to connect to a machine where oracle got installed by some admin person.

But I am not seeing any OracleService<oracle_sid> in services.msc services to start the service.
Can you please let me know how can  how to enable to oracleservice<oracle_sid> in services.msc? (I do not know the service name given by the admin).

This machine is new and Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (64 bit) operating system.
Getting the below error when I try to connect as
sqlplus / as sysdba at command prompt.
ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

Thanks.

The relevant Oracle service is like

OracleServiceDBNAME

and you have to get the Windows Admin login for administering Oracle DB.
To your error, are you able to ping the IP of the Oracle DB server?

When the admin installed the software, id they build a database?

If you don't see the Service, then there isn't a database running.

While logged in as a local admin:  Run the Database Configuration Service and create a database.

@slightwv,
I directly logged into that machine as Windows Admin. Can you please let me know how to run the database configuration service and to create a database. or should I approach them only to do this?

@HuaMinChen, I think I don't need to ping the oracle DB server as I logged in that machine. Also don't know the dbname given by the oracle admin.

Thanks.
