oracle reports

Hi
Using ORacle forms to call the oracle reports.
the report default DESTFORMAT is pdf i changed it to spread sheet.
but i am getting error when trying to open the excel file
The file you are trying to open getjobid357.xls is in a diferent format than specified by the file extension.

report name is test1.rdf
and binary is test1.rep.

can I get the excel report from forms without the above error message. please advise.
thanks.

The file really isn't a native Excel file so Microsoft is warning you.

Microsoft has ways to get around the warning message if you want to:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/948615

Check the online Oracle docs:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_cla005.htm#RSPUB23808

SPREADSHEET

(Command line only) The report output is sent to an HTML file that can be directly opened with Microsoft Excel 2000. You can generate spreadsheet output from the paper layout of reports saved in any format (.rdf, .jsp, .xml). See Usage Notes.

I need to generate a user audit report by passing parameters like user name
acess date from and access date to.

Sorry but I'm not a Forms and Reports person.

Hopefully an Expert that is will post later.
