The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Why do we need Oracle 10g Forms to be hooked up to Oracle 11i application server.

Asked by vkg_26 in Oracle Product Info, Oracle Database, Oracle 10.x

Hi,
I have doubt and I thought of getting a clarification from you guys.
The problem is as follows:

My company earlier used to maintain records for display and storage purpose using Oracle portal. But now it seems Oracle support to Oracle Portal is being limited. Hence my company asked our team to develop a strategy to face problems that would arise.

My manager said we will upgrade the entire system using Oracle 10g forms (i,e., using Oracle 10g database) and he says once the system is upgraded by using Oracle Forms and Oracle 10g database we shall hook up these forms to Oracle 11i Application server.

Now my question  are :
1. Why to upgrade the system by using Oracle 10g forms when we have Oracle 11i apps server with us which already have built in forms ( as per my understanding) that can be used for this purpose?
2. When database is on Oracle 10g Server and Forms are also on 10g Server, how he will hook up the forms to Oracle 11i Apps Server?
3.Why he is not going on with 10g server alone and why is he bringing 11i apps server into picture?

It would be very helpful if you can explain me in detail and also rpovide me with relavent links where I can find the materil on the net. Please I need the explanation on this because I am a starter and I am not able to understand what my manager is exactly going to do.

Hope to get a reply from you soon.
Thanks,
