Question

missing or erroneous pg_hba.conf file

Hi,

I have a server and i cant connect to it because it gives me the follwing error, the only thing i have changed inthe conf file was to allow certain ip addresses connect to it

You didn't include the error, so we're flying blind.  And what were you using to try and connect?

Just to clarify, when you say "i cant connect to it", is this connection attempt from a remote host or the localhost (that is, the server)?  Also, when you say that "i have changed in the conf file", I'm guessing you specifically meant the pg_hba.conf file, correct?  Could you send along the added line (if not the entire contents of it)?

Also, if you could specify how you are connecting to the server:

  1. Is your client on the same machine as the server? 
  2. Is your client on a different machine and you are connecting through a network? If so, verify the server is listening on the same port the client is trying to connect to.
