The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

CR XI - Shipping Labels Report - Qty Calculation/Display Options per Label?

Asked by boris711 in Business Objects, Crystal Reports Software

Hello Experts,
One of our largest customers has put a product labeling standard in place that we must follow in order to continue doing business with them. Using CR XI I have created a template for labels (4"x5.375", 4 per sheet). To meet the customers specs we need to label each carton and each package as to contents and quantities. Per shipment, contents (part number) will remain the same, but quantities will change based on label placement. I understand how to do everything, i.e. parameters, barcodes (downloaded font), etc. But I don't how, or if it is even possible, to change the quantities printed on each label. I haven't found anyway to differentiate between the labels in the template to be able to direct different Qty values to the individual labels.

Example Scenario: We want to ship 430 items (same part number), they will all fit in one carton, but we will have separate packages in the carton with 50 in each and another package with a remainder of 30. So, we will need 10 labels total, 1 Qty 430 (outside carton), 8 Qty 50 (each full package), and 1 Qty 30 (remainder package). I understand how to create the parameters and the formulas to do the math, but is there a way to apply the different quantities to each label, thus creating all 10 labels with a single run of the report?  Will I need to alter my template to create a subreport for each label, if so how do I change the layout on the fly?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  TIA!
