calculate month-to-date in universe for webi reports in business objects.

I've a field "Account Date" of datatype datetime in sql server 2005. I need to add a filter criteria in my webI report where this "Account Date" is in Month-to-date, i.e. i need to see all records for the month-to-date period. I'm trying to create a formula in universe but it doesn't work. Could anyone plz tell me how to compare this "account date" to month to date and if i need to change the datatype too?

When you say month to date, do you mean for today all records in Nov 2009 from the 1st to today's date or are you entering a date to use as the comparison?

I don't use the webi or uiverse but Crystal has a monthtodate predefined period but it is based on CurrentDate or the date the report is run.

Mlmcc, when i say month to date, i want my webI doc to bring back data only for the current month. If i run the report on any day of Nov 09, it should bring back records for Nov 09 only. It's not a parameter but a filter in the report. I've used it in crystal but it's not working in Webi, the Currentdate or monthtodate.

I was hoping someone with WebI knowledge would step forward to handle this.

How are you using it in WebI?

Can you use the YEar and Month functions so you could check
Month(Parameter) = Month(DateField)
AND
Year(Parameter) = Year(DateField)
