Problem Grouping in CR 8.0

I can't group in Crystal Reports 8 under seemingly random circumstances. For instance, I have set the links in the Standard Report Editor and then set groups and gotten no groups in the report. Then, I came back later, did the same thing and the details showed up!?! If you can help me out, let me know.

Currently, I am setting up a reprt as such:

Appointments.PatientIDNum --> Patients.IDNum
Appointments.DoctorIDNum --> Users.IDNum
Appointments.InsuranceIDNum --> Insurance.IDNum
Appointments.WorkersCompIDNum --> WorkersComp.IDNum
Appointments.IDNum --> AppointmentPSSLinker.AppointmentIDNum

Patients.ReferralIDNum --> Referral.IDNum
Patients.GuardianIDNum --> Guardian.IDNum

AppointmentPSSLinker.PSSIDNum --> PSS.IDNum

PSS.CPTHCPCSIDNum --> CPTHCPCS.IDNum
PSS.ICD9IDNum --> ICD9IDNum.IDNum

And am grouping by:

Appointments.Date, Patient.SSN

Why don't the groups show up? I get no warning of an error - the groups just do not show up. Please hurry!!!
