Trouble with Grand Total

I have a report which contains 3 groups

Here is an attempt at a sketch from the design tab:

Group 1 (header)
Group 2 (header)
Group 3 (header)
EmployeeId FullName Reg Over Vac Holiday Other Total
Group 1 (footer)
Group 2 (footer)
Group 3 (footer)
GrandTot(Reg) GrandTot(Over) GrandTot(Vac) GrandTot(Holiday)

The "Total" field in my Group 3 (header) is a formula field I created that looks like this:

Sum (Reg) + Sum(Over) + Sum(Vac) + Sum(Holidy) + Sum(Other)

The problem I have and one which I come across in various reports is that I cannot see a way to create the GrandTot(Total) for my Group 3 (Footer). When I go to the menu in Crystal at the top and try to select Insert | Grand Total so I can place it in my Group 3 footer, that option is greyed out.

Maybe I am getting my Summary vs. Grand Total, vs. subtotal options confused...and maybe I shouldn't be creating my own formula field to be doing a sum lik in Group 3 (header) ? I need to know what I am doing wrong here
