Agree. SOunds like something has been installed that replaced some of the Crystal files or you may have a virus or spyware.

Browse All TopicsHi All,
I have a user running Crystal Reports version 10 on a Windows XP Pro box. It has been working fine for weeks. Now suddenly, when she clicks on the Icon, it comes up. But when you go to open a file or start a new report I get the Microsoft error message saying that crw32.exe has encountered a problem and must close. I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing Crystal Reports 10. It did not make any difference. However, I must admit that the uninstall does not seem very complete as when I reinstalled the program and clicked open, my previous file list was still there. Here is the error message that I received in the event viewer...

Don't know what specific files, just looked for any Crystal Decisions folders left behind after the uninstall and deleted em. You need to look in the 'Program Files' and 'Common Files' folders.
Sorry the utility was RegClean, some freeware that some Microsoft techies made to try and fix up any bad links in the registry. You can download it from any number of places just google it.
NOt sure either but Crystal did provide a batch file for CR8. It might be useful

It may not be directly applicable but it may give you ideas as to which files are not deleted.

I recognized that this is closed, but I wanted to add a solution that worked for me. Scenario: same error as above, however it would only do it on certain records. Thought it was bad data. No consistent pattern of bad data. I opened the form CTRL X the bottom half of the form then CTRL V save the form and it worked. NO DATA CHANGED.

The last time I had a problem with CR10 like that I had to uninstall, physically remove any files that were still left on the hard disk, and then run the MS regfix tool before the problem went away. Repeated uninstalls and re-installs were not enough to fix the problem.
