The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Web Deployment without Crystal Enterprise

Asked by DarrenZai in Crystal Reports Software

Tags: crystal, web, reports, deployment, enterprise

I am very familiar with Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise, but a little weak on actual web application development.
My current project they are using Crystal Reports Xi in a web application but not CE.
The application is written in C#.NET and VB.NET.

The application has it's own server and there is a seperate server to process the crystal reports and serve the pages back to the application.

The server that is to be processing the report has had Crystal Report Server Xi installed on it from the CR Developer CD.

A developer has written an aspx page to process the report and return the page, but as far as I can tell he has just dropped a viewer on the page and using the ReportDocument object model to process the report, it doesn't look like he is connecting to the Crystal Report Server application.

My question is

Assuming my guess is correct and the report server is just using the Crystal Reports engine to process the report:

1.How well will this design work if there are multiple people in the application requesting to view reports on demand?
He has demonstrated that it will process a report and return a page, but I am not in a position to test it with any sort of load.

2.What is the best way to provide server side processing and deployment of crystal reports in a web application without Crystal enterprise?

Happy to provide any further details if I have not been clear.

thanks

Darren
