I just need a simple 1 line formula just like this one that works in excel:
=DATE(IF(0+(LEFT(EA2,2))<2
where EA2 is a value like 86263
which stands for 263 days in the year 1986
1986 is Y2K compliancy for an AS400 for this year so I will need to be able to any year as well
other examples are:
85001 to 01/01/2005
86214 to 08/01/2006
87365 to 12/31/2007
thanks, Corey

local numbervar year := val(left(input,2));
local numbervar days := val(right(input,3));
if year < 20
then year := year + 2020
else year := year + 1920;
dateserial(year,1,days)
