The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception.

hi I`m working in a windows application on VS 2005 and I made reports using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005

when I deploy the project on XP and print any document it goes so fine

but when I deploy it on windows 2000 it gives me that exception:

The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception.

can somebody tell me what is it

I think the problem is when I deploy it in any other PC even if it uses xp

How are you deploying the application?

Are you using the merge modules?

Are you deploying to each machine or is this web-based?

I`m using merge modules for crystal reports deployment that are auto generated by the vs.net 2005 setup and I`m deploying to each machine

I don't have vs 2005 so I am not sure but I wonder if there is a difference inthe assemblies required for XP and 2K?  In the setup does it allow you to specify the target platform?

Is there a difference in the .Net version on the machines?

it is not working under any platform either XP or 2000

It may be in the way you are deploying the application.  Here is a link to explain how to deploy in .Net

I already added these merge modules for the crystal reports but they didn`t function but I downloaded the merge module updates from businessobjects.com that belong to crystal reports for vs.net 2005 and it worked

Try running  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages\CrystalReports\ CRRedist2005_x86.msi
