Up to now I used code in Visual Basic to make / print reports. With continues changes in reports and a growing number of reports a lot of time is spent on this. Reading about printing from Visual Basic the general opinion seems to be that printing can better be done using third party software.
Looking on internet several solutions are offered. One that looks interesting to me is Crystal Reports, since we are already using Crystal reports XI in the company and Business Objects promises seamless integration with Visual Studio.
I am using Visual Basic Express 2008 and SQL 2005 Express. Can someone tell me:
1. Is Crystal Reports a good alternative?
2. Do we need to upgrade to Crystal Reports 2008?
3. What is the difference between Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008 and Crystal Reports 2008?
4. Is there a better alternative?
