The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I display summaries for each value in a parameter field dynamically>

Asked by scottyfurg in Crystal Reports Software, Business Objects

I have created a parameter field in a report that allows a user to select one or more multiple values, for example "City".  I then display each of the selected values as a group in a report with the detailed records corresponding to each following each group.  I can easily place summary data for each group in the group footer using summaries or Running Total fields, but what I'd like to do is display summary values for each of the values the user selects in the parameter field in the report footer dynamically.  For example, if the user selects two cities, "New York" and "Boston" from a list of 30 cities in the database that show up as possible values to select in the parameter field, it would display the number of customers in the selected cities.  Something like:

New York = 30
Boston = 45

If instead they chose Cleavland, Detroit and Los Angeles they would see the following in the report footer:

Clevalnd = 12
Detroit = 23
Los Angeles = 98

etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I'm thinking it's some type of looping formula that evaluates an array of the selected parameter values but I've not cracked this one.Start Free Trial
