Crystal Reports 2008 Record Selection Problem, SQL where clause not being used

I am using Visual Studio 2005
I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008
I created a BRAND NEW report, within the IDE that has 5 subreports
I am passing in an Identity Key from to my Million row master table
IT works FLAWLESSLY in designer.
Whenever i load the report into my Control the parameter box comes up and takes my "ID" number
Then the report proceeds to try to load All Records from the database, totally ignoring my record selection formula.

in the record seletion formula i have the following code

if trim({?KeyId}) = "" then 
{XKeyInfo.KeyID} ="NOTHING"
else

yes definately ... the report also contains 6 subreports.   the VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY annoying thing about it is that IN DESIGNER mode, it works fine... it ONLY prints everything when i load it into the Crystal Viewer control of VB.NET 2005

Can you display the parameter on the report?

Does it show what you are passing?

The parameter is evidently being "eaten" by the vb.net code.
code that does work with "smaller" less complicated reports .. this is obviously a bug with Crystal
Thanks for the ideas.... but i think im just out of luck.

I'm having the same problem. I know the parameters are being passed to the report because I display them on the report.

Here are some other things I've found.
If I export it works just fine.
If I print it works just fine.
If I preview...doesn't work

If I move the code from the Record Selection Formula to the Group Selection Formula is all works just fine.

This is getting frustrating.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

It also works if you set the record selection formula in the CONTROL on the vb.net form

FYI...I posted this a another problem instead as an "Open for Discussion"

The problem is you have to set the RecordSelectionFormula on the viewer as well as the ReportDocument

Go figure! I believe this is a Crystal bug.

this.crviewer.ReportSource = m_Rpt;
this.crviewer.SelectionFormula = m_Rpt.RecordSelectionFormula;
