You have some customization options in regard to crosstabs only if you are using the 2008 latest version. Prior versions are somewhat limited when it comes to adding or using customized formulas and calcs.

IF you have a prior version of CR,...keep in mind that you can always create a crosstab MANUALLY, using the normal report designer so that the final appearance of the report "appears" in a crosstab format. Create a manual crosstab will allow for total customization of your final display.

There is a little more development work involved, but I think it is the best way to go if your requirement is a highly customized crosstab.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I am running XI R2 and have considered the manual cross tab option.  However, I never know how many columns I'll need when I run it because of the nature of the data.  Is there any way to keep that functionality while stiill manually creating a cross tab?  Thanks in advance.

by: CRXIuser2005Posted on 2009-08-18 at 07:21:55ID: 25123523

I'd have to see the data, but my first thought is you can by the use of SECTIONS and using formulas to hide or expand a section based on the data.

If you'd like to explore more options, please post a sample of your crosstab highlighting or noting what changes you are worried about losing...

Here is my crosstab data.  Here I'm only compiling 5 days worth (on the lefthand side) and 6 types of widget occured within that timeframe.  There are approximately 30 types of widget altogether and I don't want them all showing if most of them are blank.

Basically, all I want is a percentage column to the right of the Total column that says, for example on the first line, "100%" because there were 44 shipments and 44 were on time shipments.

On the second line, I'd like to see "66%" because 45 is 66% of 48.  See what I'm looking for?

by: MTaftPosted on 2009-08-18 at 08:52:07ID: 25124516

Whoops... I meant to say on the second line that 45 is 66% of 68, not 48.

by: CRXIuser2005Posted on 2009-08-18 at 09:55:30ID: 25125214

Ok well you do that simply by adding another summary to the totals and then changing the summary to a PERCENTAGE calc.

Have you tried that? I thought you meant something more advanced that simply adding a simple Percentage Column.....

by: MTaftPosted on 2009-08-18 at 10:06:19ID: 25125301

Yes.  I've tried that.  Attached is a pic of what it does.   It gives me what percentage, either in the row or column, each widget is in relation to the total widgets.  I don't give two toots about that percentage.  I want to know what percentage ON TIME QTY is of the SHIPPED QTY.  I don't care what percentage Widget #2 ON TIME QTY is of the TOTAL ON TIME QTY.  See what I mean?

I believe I know the answer to this question, and it is that there may be a way to do this in CR 2008 but there simply isn't in CRXIR2.  Thanks for the links CRXIUser2005.
