Exporting Cognos Impromptu Report into Excel (.xls) - List Frame vs Worksheet

How do i configure Cognos impromptu report to be exported out as "Excel with format" and that it come out as in worksheet in MS Excel and not as List Frame in MS Excel ?

What version of Cognos are you using? As far as I know, you only have two options - export as .xls with no formatting - or export with formatting.

I'm not sure what you mean by List Frame once it gets to Excel - I always find it has been exported to the worksheet with a white background.

i mean , if you notice , when you export as excel, the sheet is still know as "sheet 1"but mine shown as "List_Frame"

guess  i will sort that out myself.

The cognos products don't create true .XLS files (becuase until Office 2007, the XLS file format was proprietary and owned by Microsoft), so Cognos uses microsoft's "Open" method, which is effectively an HTML file that contains excel-specific tags.

From what I can tell, if the report data is in a list frame, then the name of the sheet should be "List_Frame".  You should only see "Sheet 1" if the report is in a form frame.

Are you exporting as Excell 2000 or 2002?

If I understand the problem correctly - Impromptu is outputting "list_frame" as the worksheet name (Tab text), instead of Sheet1, or (as in my case) the name of the report. A list_frame is a control type in Impromptu - the standard frame for a normal list report.

Is it only in your install of Cognos that this is happening? Or are other users experiencing the same issue? What version of Cognos are you running?

Are you able to post the .imr?

no i can't post the .imr due to confidentiality issues.

Let me check further to see if i can diagnose anything cos only 1 pc is exporting as "list frame", while the rest is ok.
