can anyone give an example of a cognos crosstab report please? although i have listed this as powerplay I am actually using cognos8

You can use crosstab reports to show information in a more compact form than in a grouped list. For example you can create a crosstab report to show total sales by product line generated by each sales representative. Like list reports, crosstab reports are reports that show data in rows and colums. But the values in the intersection points of rows and columns show the summarized information.

I'm not sure what you're mean by "an example". Cognos 8 comes with a complete set of sample databases that can be loaded into MSSQL, Oracle or DB2, and a set of sample reports based on this. Several of them are crosstab reports. In addition, the included Cognos 8 Report Studio Users Guide provides step-by-step instructions on building a basic crosstab.
