Restored the contents store from old version
But I am getting login error while running the report.
Following are the error details:
QE-DEF-0285 The logon failed.

SOWB_DS
UDA-SQL-0576 An unknown collation sequence "GTOFNDB1" was specified for the local sort.

Install Cognos 8 in a new directory (with differnt ports), and create a new content store for it. Do a content store deployment from your Reportnet system, and import that into your new Cognos 8 system. Open the FM models in Cognos 8, validate and republish them. Then fix all the things that probably didn't upgrade the way you expected.

There is a program you can download from cognos called "Upgrade manager" which will compare the report outputs from the two environments and advise you as to which ones upgraded correclty.
Depending on your system, this upgrade could be dead simple, but usually there will be certain types of reports that just won't work the way you expect. That's because Cognos 8 has a lot more functionality in it, and so has to be a lot pickier about how certain tasks are performed. Reportnet just didn't care.
