Browse All TopicsI have a sql query and I am able to create a table in sql reporting services like below
dtype ddate ID name role
cc 12/2/2005 1 john consultant
bb 12/2/2005 1 john consultant
aa 12/2/2005 1 john consultant
cc 12/2/2005 2 joel consultant
bb 12/2/2005 2 joel consultant
aa 12/2/2005 2 joel consultant
cd 12/9/2005 7 jill engineer
hp 12/9/2005 7 jill engineer
I want to group this in
so it displays in sql report table as
dtype ddate ID name role
cc 12/2/2005 1 john consultant
bb 12/2/2005
aa 12/2/2005
2 joel consultant
cd 12/9/2005 7 jill engineer
hp 12/9/2005
Please note that ID name role
record appears only once
1 john consultant

Angela4eva,
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet i've been extremely busy today w/ my real job duties.
SSRS allows you to define multiple grouping levels in a report, the unfortunate thing is you could have a group header w/ your consultants name, and a list of all the projects he's been involved in below.
If that's OK you can do something like the following.
1. Create a Report w/ the appropriate datasource (Query) and insert a TABLE object on the report
2. Insert a group on the report, group on consultantID or consultant Name (whichever guarantees unique records)
3. Insert the consultants Name in the group header
4. Insert Project info in the detail row.
Et voila, you will now have a report that is grouped by Consultant w/ a list of all the projects they have been involved in. If you need more information or more help please don't hesitate to ask.
