Question

How can I calculate a running total with SSRS

I have an expression in my page footer

="Total Carried Forward " + FormatCurrency(Sum(ReportItems("DonorTotal").Value).ToString())

However this just totals the DonorTotal for the page, I need it as a running total for the whole report, how do I achieve this?

This needs to work with SQL Server 2005

You should be able to use the RunningValue function in SSRS.

I tried that but it said it couldn't be used in headers or footers, thanks.

the answer to the problem is this - you have to put the running total in the row section of the report, then reference the row section field in the header or footer to get it to appear.
