The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Embedding Fonts into PDF from SQL Server Reporting Services Report

Asked by MPKR in SQR, MS SQL Server, SQL Reporting

Hi.

I have investigated about this topic. I found out that the PDF Rendering of Reporting Services did not support font embedding in 2000 and 2005 versions. I also found some discussions and comments from MS related, that this feature is planned but won't be finished in SQL Server 2008 Version.(http://blogs.msdn.com/donovans/pages/reporting-services-pdf-renderer-faq.aspx  => "When will Reporting Services do font embedding?").
On the other hand I found an tachnet articxle describing that fonts will be embedded into PDF Files from redering machine: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159713.aspx
I have an Windows 2008 Server with SQL Server 2008 Express Edt. and Reporting Services installed. I use an Code39 BArcode Font that is installed on the Reporting Server system as well as on the client where I open the Report. The Report shows the Barcode Font, but when I export to PDF it does not.
Does anyone have more experience with that, especially can anyone explain the conditions explained in the above given technet article, especially that one:

"Font embedding privileges are granted by the font author. Installed fonts include a property that indicates whether the font author intends to allow embedding a font in a document. If the property value is EMBED_NOEMBEDDING, the font is not embedded in the PDF file. For more information, see "TTGetEmbeddingType" on msdn.microsoft.com."

I can't figure out where to find this "property". Even google seems not to know something similar...
