SQL database log.ldf file size

We run sql server enterprise edition on microsoft windows NT version 8.00.2050.
We run a database names example-company of size 1.5Gb.
But that databse file creates a log.ldf file "exampla-comapny_log.ldf" which is almost 50Gb .
This takes almost all of the disk space on that server.
Please advise on how to reduce the size of this file.
