Question

NW Developer Studio installation on Win XP 2, ERROR: 103 syslib.filesystem.errorSettingTimeStamp

Asked by: LAERION

Hi! I've DAYS trying to install a SAP 7.0 RS3 Developer Studio in my Windows XP and till now I've been unsuccessful. Every time I try to start the installation I end up with an error, and can't go forward from there. The stack of the error is as follows:

***************

SAPinst is getting started.
Please be patient ...

starting gui server process:
sapinstport: 21200
guiport : 21212
guistart : true
command : "C:\Archivos de programa\Java\j2re1.4.2_09/bin\javaw.exe" -cp "C:/DOCUME~1/raul/CONFIG~1/Temp/sapinst_exe.2572.1233158634\jar\instgui.jar;C:/DOCUME~1/raul/CONFIG~1/Temp/sapinst_exe.2572.1233158634\jar\inqmyxml.jar" -Xmx256M -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true SDTServer config=jar:sdtserver.xml guiport=21212 sapinsthost=localhost sapinstport=21200 guistart=true

load resource pool E:\51033522_SAP_NetWeaver_Developmet_Studio\IM_WINDOWS_I386\resourcepool.xml

guiengine: no GUI server connected; waiting for a connection on host xpvirtual2, port 21200 to continue with the installation

guiengine: login in process.
guiengine: login successful.
103 syslib.filesystem.errorSettingTimeStamp C:/Archivos de programa/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/DEVSTUDIO/control.xml, 816
Exit status of child: 1

*********

I've tried several things:

- Tested with JDK 1.4.2_09, 1.5, 1.6_11
- Tested with Win XP Pro both in english and spanish
- Turned off every firewall and antivirus I had
- Even I installed a Win XP machine from scratch

And after days and days, I can't install it, not even have a clue what is happening and I haven't find any information on the Net, including on SAP SDN formus.

I'm pretty new to SAP and doesn't know if I need something else before this installation, of course I've read some installation guides and met all the requirements they put.

If some one there has any idea worth to try, please share it.

Best regards, happy coding!

Hi,

Maybe sthg below helps you:

During the installation, the default ports 21200 and 21212 are used for communication between SAPinst, GUI server, and SAPinst GUI. SAPinst uses port 21200 to communicate with the GUI server. The GUI server uses port 21212 to communicate with SAPinst GUI. You get an error message if one of these ports is already in use by another service.
In this case, open a command prompt and change to the required directory as follows:
<DVD drive>:\IM_WINDOWS_<platform>.
Enter the following command in a single line:
sapinst.exe SAPINST_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_sapinst_gui_to_gui_server> GUISERVER_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_gui_server_to_sapinst_gui>
To get a list of all available SAPinst properties, go to the directory (%TEMP%\sapinst_exe.xxxxxx.xxxx), after you have started SAPinst, and enter the following command:
sapinst.exe -p.

Regards,
Toan Do

I hope that help you

Regards

Yeah I've seen that, and even that is not the same file that I've problems with (the post is toplevel and is for the installation of ERP, mine is control from NW Developer Studio) I already tried the solution before coming here... and no solution. What don't understand from that post, is what does he mean with "stsrt installation"... what does "stsrt" is?

I just received a DVD from SAP with the software and all worked well. Don't know what was happening with the previous DVD.
