SAP R/3 4.7 IDES INSTALLATION HELP

Hi,
I've just accuired dvds of SAP R/3 IDES..Would like to install it on my pc but instruction says i've to install oracle db 9.0.2 and java also..which requires almost 10-12 hrs for complete installation..all i want is SAP GUI and some modules to pracise..why do I have to install Oracle and java?
