Error message when I post a GL Account.

I am trying to post a GL Account. I am in T code FB50.
When I try to post I get the error message, posting period 011 2009 Is not open.
Now when I googled this error message the solution was to:

You need to run transaction MMPV.

I ran this but may have ended up closing the period.

I even tried changing the posting date year but got the same error message.

I do not have a finance background so plelase be detail in your answer.
