I am searching a HowTo for a "HyperTerminal" program under Ubuntu...
I need to connect to the serial interface of my computer, because on that device I have a controller... does anyone have a how-to for linux... e.g ubuntu ?

The tool you need for this is probably minicom or kermit.
(kermit is packaged for unix as ckermit)
Both of these allow access to the serial port, IMHO kermit is easier scriptable.
Kermit also allows telnet like access over a network. The file transfer protocol is supported
on a lot of systems.
For kermit it would be something along: (micro-howto)
start kermit
$ kermit
C-Kermit>set line /dev/ttyS0
C-Kermit>set modem carrier-watch off
C-Kermit>connect
<whatever is needed>....
(CTRL-\)
c
C-Kermit>exit
(Control backslash + c) to return to your kermit prompt.
exit to leave kermit.
