avg disk que length showing 100%

Hi,
I have windows 2003 server with oracle 9i. When i saw the perfmon the avg disk quee length is showing 100% at that time the server performance is very slow. Can you give me a solution for this.

more memory?

Do you run advanced server or just standard server?
Advanced server will allow more memory, and so reduce disk thrashing.

Also, do you have raid? Can you add more drives, that will make things quicker..

Optimization of the server can also help. like page file,  etc.
database may need optimizing and defragmentation, as does the filesystem..

running out of diskspace?

An increase in clients? Addition loads like new software or backups, virus protection etc...

are you using SAN or standard IDE/SATA drive. If its SAN then there are different ways to improve performance, If its standard HDD then there are different.
In my opinion you probaly need, defragmentation, check IO bottlenecks, HBA cards/ RAID config

We are using 2003 Standard Edition R2, with SP2 and RAID5 with 3 SAS HDDs.

Isn't disk queue length a number, not a percentage?  What number do you get?
And task manager provides a quick view of memory - look at how much is free.

Does anything else run on the server?  For instance, even something as simple as a file copy can cause slow response and high queue lengths (particularly on Raid 5) if the database doesn't yield enough memory to the OS for effective file system caching.

Also I don't know Oracle but database updates on Raid 5 can be slow, and if you have a single Raid 5 set holding everything I expect it could be quite slow.
