Need proper Teradata syntax: Crystal Report Grouping with a SQL statement

I'd like to use an already created report that returns the values i need from Teradata.  This Crystal 10 report holds several Formula Fields that run with no errors.
The SQL statement that runs within the report returns the error:
Query Engin Error: '42000:[NCR][ODBC Teradata Driver][Teradata Database] Syntax error, expected something like and 'END' keyword between the work 'to-char' and '('.'.

See attached 'snippet' of code

it must be a Teradata syntax issue that i am not aware of.    Any ideas?

the problem is that there is no to_char () function in Teradata. I understand that in your example it is used to convert number to varchar. Try to cast required fields as the varchar. In the example I posted below I replaced your to_char with cast, casting the values to varchar(100). Change the size from 100 accordingly to your needs. The rest looks fine.

Your code looks great, and really helps me appreciate the teradata syntax.  do you know why, when i troubleshoot/run i get the message: 42000:[NCR][ODBC] Teradata Driver][Teradata Database] Syntax error: expected something between the 'SELECT' keyword and '/'.'.   ?

that's my difficulty.  
the crystal 10 program will not run, bringing up only the SQL that i pasted in earlier.  I do not know where the SQL Select statement is that is referred to in the 2nd error message.  how do i view the entire SQL for the Crystal 10 rpt?

Sorry,

I cannot help you with getting the sql from crystal 10. You will have to figure it out somehow, then I can help you.

If you have working version of this query on other db, like oracle, you can try check what query was executed in v$sql view... Or find some way to look at the query in Crystal.
