Browse All TopicsI need to check if a table of an index already exists prior to DELETE command.
It should be something like IS_OBJECT() in MS SQL Server I guess.
Thanks.

This is the standard method for checking existence of any object that has an entry in the sysobjects system table.
ere') IS NOT NULL
IF OBJECT_ID('YourObjectNameH
The OBJECT_ID() function is a system operator that functions against the cached copy of the sysobjects table and returns the Object ID or a NULL if the object does not exist.
Of course the 'NOT' operator can be removed if you want to sense the absence rather than the existence of an object.
If you are using ASE 15.0.2, you can build a quick T-SQL function that emulates the IS_OBJECT() MS SQL Server built-in but, except for source code compatibility, I can't image it gives you any real advantage to do so.

Bill
