I think that I have the solution pretty much figured out but I want to ask the question to kind of get some feedback and see what others think.
Hardware: basic home pc setup to act as the server for a small network of 5 pc's in an auto dealership
Software:Manheim Tracker suit version unknown but atleast 6 years old. The database is actually advantage and that is the real focal point of the problem.
History behind problem: There was a power outage about a week ago exact usage of program during time of outage could not be determined.
Problem: Everytime you goto add an entry in this case a sale of an auto an error is returned stating: lock table error 9008 and then gives the table location.
I have also noticed that when trying to go in and use the database editor you can open the table but when trying to subject it to database management tool it will only allow it to be viewed in Read Only mode which doesn't allow for editing.
Another interesting fact is that once the lock table error is displayed you can hit retry and it will add the entry but a multitude of times (10-15)
Also once the error is thrown you can not exit the tracker program as it will throw a handling error (can't remember exact wording off the top of my head) and then continue running the only way to close it after that is forceably shutting it down.
My possible solution: The only thing I can think of is that the table was being placed in a Lock table read only state at the time of the power outage and is not able to remove itself from that state I was thinking that maybe if I perform a manual unlock of all tables in the database editor it might clear this error and resume normal operation.
HUGE PROBLEM: I do have a backup system involved in this equation however I was not notified of the problem for more than a week so all backups are daily and now even if I wanted to restore the backup it would be a backup with the same issue.
I hope I have provided enough info if you guys need anything else just let me know.
