Good plan, but alas! Migrated DB won't open open in 11. Works in 9, though.
Guessing I need to step it through 10, too.

Error code=-1005
SQL state=08001
DB is version 8.0.2.360, I'm running 11.0.1.
dbupgrad fails with the same error.
dbunload fails with "Unable to start specified database: autostarting database failed"
Attempting to start server fails, yet upgrade through Sybase Central won't start unless connected.
What is the trick here?

You cannot jump from 8 to 11 in one shot. I would look for a version of 9.x and go there first. I think you can jump from 9 to 11 O.K though.
