installing Sybase IQ express edition 15.4
Dear all,
when installing the IQ express 15.4 x64, from time to time the console will say cant' find Java path, which my PC keep using java for more than a year without any problem.
it seems looking for Java path inside the c:\sybase folder, how come is that ?
the Java path should not be inside that folder, right ?
it keep showing exception.

You might be running the Java x86 (32 bit) and Sybase might require the x64 one (64 bit).
Can you kindly post your OS version complete with edition, architecture and language such as Windows 7 Professional x64 English?

no. I have both and I verified it works !!
I am installing with Windows 8.1 pro with update 1 x 64 on intel platform.
The sybase ASE 15.7 already troublesome and this IQ 15.4 even more troublesome, why it always happen like this ?

Hi, I'm trying to understand if IQ 15.4 is certified for 8.1 + UPDT1 x64 but I can't find this info. I'm afraid you are trying to run an unsupported scenario.
I've found something about version 16.0 and it runs on 7 x64.
This makes me think 15.4 doesn't run on 8.1 + UPDT1 x64.
Didn't you consider running the 16.0 version? Since it runs on 7 x64 most likely it should run on 8.1 + UPDT1 x64 as well.

that one is the latest one I can download, I can only do this and the dmeo I am reading is based on Windows 7...

now it kills my existing SCC by my ASE 15.7 database server installation.
once I uninstall IQ 15.4, it uninstall that SCC too !

it can instlal but just keep complaining about the JRE path..... so this means....?
I thought you were installing 15.4 as a new install. Did you have a working 15.7 installation before attempting the 15.4 install?
This scenario (coexistence 15.7+15.4) makes things even more complicated.

You might have Java but you might need the Java SE.
