Access 2002 runtime installation - "Office System Pack" Language problem

I am trying to deploy the Access XP runtime engine. Most users have no problems with the installation, but some are getting an error about a langauge mismatch, telling them to get the corect Office System Pack for the appropriate language for their version of MS Office. The installation then quits.

All users have MS Office97 already installed, with or without Access 97. This should not affect the installation of the Access XP runtime engine (as I said, most of them have no installation problems at all).

As far as I am aware, all users have the same language in their regional settings under Control Panel (English (Australian)). I checked whether all users have the same default language by opening MS Word and going to -> tools -> language. English (Australian) seems to be the default.

I really need to fix this!!!

Check the references for the database.
Tools --> References.
Check the Microsoft Office 8.0Object Library if required.
What version of Windows are your users running?

pick1any1, Microsoft Office 8.0 Object Library is not in the list of references in the database. Microsoft Office 8.0 Object Library is the only Object Library in the list, and it was already checked.

Amigo, we are all using NT4.0, SP6a. When I run WinVer.exe, my machine says "RC1.3", but I'm not sure what that means or if it's significant.
I had the same problem.  The conflict is with Access 97.  For solution see:

eghtebas, My problem is not addressed by the KB article.
This is not an Access 2002 installation - the installation for Access runtime engine is completely different.

The full error message that these users get is:

VISUAL BASIC 6.0 SETUP TOOLKIT:
==============================

The Office System Pack cannot be installed on this system because the languages are not the same. Install the Office System Pack for the appropriate language on your computer.
Check your references again. There are a number of Visual Basics for Applications references available. When you click on the reference the message box at the bottom of the References window shows the language for that reference. Ensure all references selected are in Standard or English/Standard, if not deselect and select appropriate reference.

Thanks, pick1any1. I checked - they are all English except for "Visual Basic for Applications" which is "English/Standard". The system wouldn't let me deselect this reference as it is in use (even though no forms or modules are open). I suspect this is OK, it's probably just an integral reference that must always be in place.

Don't forget, most users have no problems (language-related  or otherwise) when they install. I would expect that changing the reference language to suit a couple of users who are having instalaltion problems will cause more damage for more users than it fixes...
