RAID 5 vs RAID 10 in drive array for SQL Server Database
Currently we are in the process of putting together a new RAID array for our SQL Server data files. We have found some conflicting recommendations as to what RAID configuration to use for this database. We are not sure if we should go with RAID 5 or 10.
We are using a PERC 4 RAID card, with four 300GB SCSI drives. The server is a Dell
PowerEdge 2800, with 4GB RAM, and two Intel Xeon processors @ ~ 3.0 GHz.
The database holds currently ~100 GB of data and is likely to double each year.
Thanks.
