The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

SQL server not starting

My customer is running SQL svr on Winxp machine.  All was working fine until today.  For some reason, when he was surfing the internet his computer just shut itself down.  He rebooted and everything came up, except SQL server which is needed for his companies main application.  I went over there and pulled the logs (have them on disk) and also pulled the event log from xp.  

We are receiving:
 Event ID 100:
'0' is an invalid number of startup parameters.  This service takes two start up parameters.

Event ID 1000:
Faulting application iexplorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.1106, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 6.0.2800.1276 fault address 0x000aaf4t

Event ID 7024:
The MSSQLServerADHelper service terminated with service-specific error 3221225572 (0xC0000064)


ALSO: I pulled the logs from SQL and it gives an error ID-17052 MSSQLServer.  C0000005 Exception-access-violation.sql.

I am a loss when it comes to SQL so that is why I am posting this.  We simply need to get SQL server running so that he can get his business application to work.
